We are always looking for people to
If you would like to help us out at the DUNK TANK this year, help selling RAFFLE TICKETS or at our tables under the FOOD TENT, please email us.
Lions Club - Horsham Day Volunteers - 2009
1. First and foremost, WE APPRECIATE YOUR SUPPORT! Volunteering is a lifelong rewarding and self-satisfying activity, we're glad you're interested in helping out.
2. Please note that the Lions Club does not run Horsham Day! As a club, we PARTICIPATE in Horsham Day. This yer, we will be running the dunk tank, holding a RAFFLE and serving food at a table under the food tent. We are just one of many food vendors under the food tent.
3. We'll need HELP selling:
o Roast Pork Sandwiches
o Ice Cream Sandwiches & Bars
o Sodas and Water
o Water Ice
o RAFFLE TICKETS
4. DUNK TANK: If you're working the Dunk Tank, be prepared to get very wet and very muddy. We won't ask you to sit IN the tank, but you will get wet and muddy nonetheless. Wear clothing and shoes that you don't mind getting dirty. You may want to bring a towel to dry off, or a change of clothes.
5. FOOD TENT: If you're working the food tent, wear clothing that won't be destroyed by food. Sometimes it does get messy. While the tent provides shade, sometimes the angle of the sun removes our shade. Bring an apron if you have one. The ground tends to get a little muddy, so wear comfortable shoes you don't mind getting mud on.
6. SIGNUPS: We only need three volunteers (at most!) at any one time at the dunk tank, and four volunteers (at most!) at the food tent. Even then, you may be idle some of the time. Contact me (Andy Weiss, HorshamPALions@gmail.com, 215-901-6951) to sign up for one of the time slots!
o Include contact information, including cell and email, desired location, and desired timeslot
o SETUP and TEARDOWN times are very very important!
o I can re-arrange the timeslots (ex: 1pm-2pm) if necessary
o Contact me for any questions or concerns
o If you need something signed saying you did X hours, let me know
7. TRANSPORTATION: As you may know, you can't just drive to Horsham Day. You can park at the High School and take a shuttle bus. The Lions can't pick you up.
8. SAFETY: Last year the temperature rose above 100 degrees. This wasn't the first Horsham Day where people were carried out on stretchers due to heat exhaustion. Prepare accordingly. Bring sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, water bottles. And feel free to visit the DUNK TANK to cool off!
9. IF IT RAINS: Then it rains. Nothing we can do about it. The township does use Sunday as a rain-date, but our roast pork won't keep overnight, so we have no alternative but to let it go to waste. If we have committed volunteers, we can still sell ice cream, drinks, water ice, and run the dunk tank, should we be moved to Sunday on account of rain.
